The Comfiest Pants for Winter & Thoughts on Saving a Life

This past week and weekend has been a whirlwind of cold rainy days and a little flooding, which is all the more reason to snuggle up into some warm and comfortable layers. I found these pants at a boutique in Texas and after trying them on did not want to ever take them off. To test their durability, and go on a mission of support, I went with a  friend to the San Francisco SPCA (Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals) where animals are rescued from the cold streets or cruel situations and await a loving home.

Once inside, I was introduced to Benjamin, Scampi, and Baby Cakes. Benjamin didn't want to sit still for a picture, but these two certainly didn't mind a little attention.

As the fourth oldest humane society in the U.S. and the founders of the No-Kill movement, the SF SPCA has always been at the forefront of animal welfare. As a result of our efforts and those of our community partners, San Francisco has the lowest euthanasia rate of any major city in the United States.* Their mission:

We imagine a community where every animal has a loving home. Where animals don’t need the support of San Francisco’s rescues and shelters. And we know how to get there.

Scampi told me that if someone you know wants a dog for Christmas, you might want to consider a lovable miniature doberman who likes to play and eat treats.

Baby Cakes' sweet face is identical to her personality. She is probably the best behaved, sweetest dog I've ever met.

"Baby Cakes, Sit!" No problem, she's got that one down.

If you, like myself, find that you're not ready to take on the responsibility of a dog just yet, be sure to help get the word out about what the good folks at SPCA are doing, and maybe just that little word of mouth will help to save one of these precious lives.
