Happy Friday! Fall Fashion Fest and Special Give-a-Way from Scotch & Soda

October 10, 2014

Happy Friday! Wow a lot can happen in one week. I had so much fun at Union Square's Fall Fashion Festival yesterday, and can't wait to start hacking tonight at the Dreamforce 2014 Hackathon.

A few stores turned their floors into all-out parties last night as everyone started gearing up for the chilly weather that will hit us next month. Here are a few highlights from the event, hosted by Union Square.

I never thought I'd see the day when a pink coat
turned my head but Scotch & Soda sure did with their new women's Winter line. Everything was so soft I couldn't stop running my fingers down the racks of furry and fuzzy winter knits.

I'd never seen this store so crowded before, so much energy and so many people to talk to.

Fun fall style filled the space, I think every guy in there was wearing cool frames, a bow-tie, or both! I love how the nerd current trickles into the fashion world here.

Assistant manager of Scotch & Soda and brand director Joshua Prescott of Perdozen.com posed in his nerdy take on Italian Swagger - fantastic! Check out the great accessories like the old-fashioned spectacles pin (below) featured on his website.

(He's a little more goofy than that sophisticated style makes him out to be ;)

I love freebies, and bet you do too! Among a few chic scarves, a bracelet, (and my very own bow-tie) that I scored in my party bag, I made out with a few iPhone cases - pictured below. The only problem is that I have an AndroidOS so I need to regift them - let me know if you want, first one to ping me on social media here or leave a comment will get!

Next stop was Macy's - not a frequent shopper there myself but I'd heard word of a party... and was not disappointed. Tons of shoppers, models, DJs, caterers, and photographers filled the space- was really fun! Especially the food. (Such beautiful little hor d'oeuvres...I really like any food that comes in 'mini').

Quick snack break while I listened to the dance music.

There was a funky photo booth set up from Tom Foolery Photography (yeah it got pretty crazy in there)...

...and the SkinnyGirl beverages flowed freely, reminding us that we can still be both skinny and drunk, we don't have to choose between the two anymore.

As the evening wound down, I had a nice chat with Tienlyn from the style blog Thoughtful Misfit - who had her favorite clothes from Macy's on display. A fellow Bay Area resident, she offered a few blogging tips, including how important it was to keep in mind your surroundings when posing for a shoot. After a brief inquiry, I learned that she is not much into technology or fashion tech, but did help out on some projects for the Wanelo app (she refers to it as "the Pinterest of Shopping"). You can download it for your phone here just by entering your mobile number. Very cool!

Last but not least, here was my favorite part of Macy's fashion runway show.

Have a great Friday everyone, and stay tuned for a special report from inside tonight's Hackathon!

xoxo - Julia
